Here are some questions about the treatment process that we hear often!
What is the purpose of having a dietitian and a therapist?
Eating disorders are a serious mental health disorder that include medical complications related to inadequate nutrition. This is why the gold standard of treatment is done within a team of professionals. We refer our clients for comprehensive medical evaluation, psychiatric evaluation if needed, and provide nutrition and therapy services in one location.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on the client. We will constantly evaluate with clients and family members about duration and frequency of sessions. Often, our clients come weekly at first to both therapy and nutrition appointments and as treatment progresses appointments may be spaced further apart. However, every client is different and we want to be most sensitive to each of our client’s individual needs.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time we do not accept payment through insurance coverage, medicare, or medicaid. However, we will provide you with the proper documentation to assist you in reimbursement from your insurance provider. Please check with your specific provider prior to your appointment to determine if nutrition counseling and therapy services are covered on your plan.
Do you offer community education?
Yes! We have a strong desire to provide education and resources to the community. If you would like for us to come speak to your staff, whether you work in a medical or education setting we would love the opportunity. In addition, if you ever have any questions related to eating disorders and their treatment or early intervention we would be happy to be a resource for you!
